The Opportunity

STEM Clubs is an after-school program running from November 2025 to May 2026 for youth in grades 6–8. The program is designed to strengthen participants’ STEM knowledge and skills, build STEM social capital, increase awareness of STEM pathways, and foster social-emotional learning (SEL) through engaging workshops, hands-on activities, and experiential learning trips.

As a STEM Clubs Site Lead, you will oversee the successful delivery of programming at a school site while also facilitating sessions directly with participants. You will lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Program Facilitators, ensuring sessions are high-quality, engaging, and inclusive. Site Leads play a pivotal role in cultivating safe and supportive environments while building strong relationships with youth, families, educators, and community partners.

We are seeking individuals who are confident working with low-income and racialized communities, and who bring strong leadership, facilitation, and youth engagement skills. The ideal candidate is passionate about improving the lives of youth, experienced in supervising and supporting a team, and adaptable to the diverse and dynamic needs of program delivery. Site Leads are ultimately responsible for ensuring their site runs smoothly, maintaining program quality, and fostering inclusive spaces that promote both academic and personal growth. This position works closely with Program Coordinators and provides direct leadership at the site level.

Position Details

Contract Type/Term: Part-time, Fixed-Term
Positions Available: 2
Location, Schedule & Hours: Up to 15 hours per week at one of the following program sites. Please note - team members are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from program sites:
  • Weekly on Wednesdays, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Tecumseh Sr. Public School (720 Scarborough Golf Club Rd, Scarborough, ON)
  • Weekly on Thursdays, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Greenholme Sr. Public School (10 Jamestown Cres, Etobicoke, ON)
Mandatory In-Person Training Dates at 71 Regent Park Blvd. Toronto ON:
  • Friday October 3, 2025
  • Saturday October 18, 2025
  • Saturday October 25, 2025
Additional Hours:
  • Occasional hours for preparation, team meetings, and training sessions.
  • In addition to regular program responsibilities, team members may occasionally be called upon to support one-off events, in-school engagement activities, or other special assignments as needed.
  • Some activities may take place in person at the Visions of Science office (71 Regent Park Blvd, Toronto, ON).

Major Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to)


Program Leadership & Facilitation
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver STEM Clubs sessions in alignment with curriculum and program objectives
  • Lead and supervise a team of Program Facilitators to ensure high-quality, engaging delivery at your site
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe learning environment that encourages active participation and fosters youth development in both STEM and social-emotional learning
  • Coordinate with guest speakers, educators, and partners for workshops, field trips, and enrichment activities
  • Lead site set-up and tear-down, and oversee program inventory, packing, and restocking

Participant Engagement & Support
  • Build rapport and maintain strong, supportive relationships with youth participant
  • Provide mentorship through program activities, modeling teamwork, leadership, and responsible decision-making
  • Promote positive social-emotional growth, teamwork, and self-advocacy among participants
  • Communicate with parents and guardians by sending program updates, reminders, and opportunities; support parent info sessions as needed
  • Supervise participants during sessions, trips, and enrichment activities to ensure safety and well-being

Program Administration & Evaluation
  • Maintain accurate attendance, surveys, and administrative records, uploading to online databases in a timely manner
  • Administer participant surveys, focus groups, and evaluation tools to assess program effectiveness
  • Conduct participant and facilitator debriefs and contribute to program reflection activities
  • Provide session highlights, participant stories, and outcome data to inform program reports

Team & Organizational Support
  • Support occasional one-off events, in-school engagement activities, or other special assignments as needed.
  • Liaise and engage with school partners and community stakeholders at program sites
  • Support facilitator training, team development, and recognition activities
  • Lead and participate in weekly debriefs, program reviews, and reflection meetings with the Program Coordinator and staff team
  • Capture program content and highlights to support organizational communications
  • Represent Visions of Science positively and professionally in public-facing settings with partners, families, and community members

What We’re Looking For


Education & Training
  • Interest in, current study of, or completion of a field related to STEM, education, child and youth care, or social work is preferred

Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with Visions of Science or 2+ years of leadership in youth-focused, community-based programs
  • Proven facilitation experience with children and youth, preferably in low-income and/or racialized communities
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff, volunteers, or youth leaders
  • Familiarity with lesson planning, curriculum delivery, and program evaluation tools (e.g., surveys, focus groups, outcomes tracking)
  • Strong interpersonal, behavioral management, and conflict resolution skills

Key Competencies & Skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities; able to mentor, supervise, and support Program Facilitators
  • Excellent facilitation and youth engagement skills, with the ability to lead interactive STEM workshops and experiential activities
  • Clear and confident communication skills; able to build positive relationships with youth, families, educators, and community partners
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage program logistics, reporting, and timelines while balancing multiple responsibilities
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to respond to diverse participant needs and dynamic program settings
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive, safe, and empowering spaces for children and youth from equity-deserving communities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive (training available if needed)

Additional Asset(s)
  • Lived experience in low-income and racialized communities
  • Valid G license and access to a vehicle
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Experience in the non-profit sector and knowledge of systemic issues impacting local communities
