The Opportunity
Position Overview
We are seeking a high-capacity, leadership-oriented Coordinator to drive coordination across our youth programs portfolio. Visions of Science provides a continuum of programming that supports youth from Grades 7 through early post-secondary with opportunities for leadership development, career exploration, paid internships, and post-secondary navigation. These programs are designed to empower youth through hands-on learning, real-world exposure, and equitable access to the STEM ecosystem.
The Coordinator, Youth Programs will play a vital role in executing this vision—owning the coordination of complex program logistics, leading event planning, supporting strategic program development, and helping build the systems and rhythms that allow our work to thrive. From workshops to large-scale events like the STEM Futures Expo, this role will ensure the experiences we deliver are meaningful, well-executed, and youth-centered.
This position is ideal for someone with strong project management skills, excellent communication, and a passion for educational equity. While not a managerial role, this is a high-responsibility leadership position within the coordination function, offering influence, autonomy, and growth potential.

- Salary: The starting salary for this position is set at $61,425 per year, with opportunities for growth based on performance and organizational advancement.

Key Responsibilities:
As a high-capacity contributor, the Coordinator, Youth Programs will lead coordination across multiple youth initiatives, working closely with internal teams and external partners to drive execution, align planning, and support strategic program development.
- Lead the coordination and planning of youth programming across the academic year and summer, including scheduling, materials preparation, communication, and system tracking.
- Own the planning and execution of major youth-facing events such as the STEM Futures Expo, program showcases, alumni events, and seasonal summits, overseeing logistics, stakeholder coordination, and event flow.
- Manage program calendars and internal timelines across youth program streams in collaboration with program managers and facilitators.
- Liaise with community partners, schools, guest speakers, and staff to confirm participation in panels, field trips, and program moments.
- Monitor registration, attendance, and participant feedback to track program effectiveness and outcomes, preparing reports to inform future development.
- Drive the coordination and organization of strategic development projects, such as curriculum builds, toolkits, and pilot initiatives—ensuring clear timelines, workflows, and follow-through.
- Lead the coordination of internal team rhythms, including program planning meetings, agendas, scheduling, and cross-team alignment sessions.
- Support team oversight by helping to onboard, train, and guide facilitators and other team members.
- Ensure all materials and supplies are prepared and organized for delivery across program sessions, events, and special projects.
- Provide responsive communication and logistical support to teams, youth participants and caregivers.
- Collaborate with internal staff during key program moments to ensure strong execution and youth engagement.
- Contribute to the culture of excellence, learning, and innovation at Visions of Science through initiative, feedback, and shared problem-solving.
Qualifications:
Education & Training
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., education, youth development, STEM, community work), or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ongoing commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
Required Experience & Expertise
- 3–5 years of experience in youth program coordination, events, education, or nonprofit project management.
- Experience working with youth from underrepresented communities and strong understanding of youth development.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate complex programs or events with multiple moving parts and stakeholders.
- Availability to work occasional evenings/weekends for program events or youth showcases.
Key Competencies & Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage concurrent priorities independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with youth, families, partners, and internal teams.
- Adaptability and ability to work in dynamic, youth-centered environments.
- Problem-solving abilities and a willingness to incorporate feedback and data into continuous improvement efforts.
- Comfort using tools like Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and project management platforms such as Asana or Notion.
Preferred
- Experience supporting youth from underserved communities or an understanding of issues impacting communities.
- Background in STEM education, youth development, or experiential learning is an asset.
- Familiarity with leadership development, mentorship models, or curriculum-based program delivery.
